31/07/2007 Verka Serduchka is prohibited in Russia at the instance of Konstantin Ernst
On the press-conference, dedicated to the closing of International young pop-artists concurrence “New wave”, the journalists have asked for one more time, why there was no Verka Serduchka at the festival, despite of the fact, that she was listed in the program not only as a performer, but as a presenter of one of the concerts. Here is an answer of the organizers of the competition:
”Serduchka is not shown on any of the TV-channels now, because Konstantin Ernst was personally asking in Kremlin for not allowing Serduchka to visit Russia. We consider it to be gibberish. But after two or three months the situation will become stable again. Even Pugatchova herself has spoken to the authorities about it. Despite of the fact, that Danylko always took part in the “New wave” – five years he was a presenter of a concert as a member of jury, this time we decided not to take a risk. Andrey himself understands all this, he called to Igor Krutoi and wished him happy birthday. You know, even during a civil war there was a rule – not to harm musicians and prostitutes. There are periodically some “shifts” in the society, but why it has to concern artists? Artists have to sing. Lasha tumbai, Russia good-bye, Masha – what is the difference? “Good-bye, America”, - was singing Butusov. So what?”
